Norman Whiteside (North Ireland) is the youngest player to have played in a World Cup Final round the 17 June 1982 in Saragossa against Yugoslavia. He was 17 years and 42 days old. Only 7 players younger under 18 years have participated to the World Cup Final round, Brazilian King Pelé was one of them and he was the youngest goal scorer in the competition with 17 years and 239 days against Wales in 1958.
